Our October trip is a visit to Hardwick Hall, a spectacular Elizabethan house, built in the late 16th century by Elizabeth, Countess of Shrewsbury, better known as Bess of Hardwick. It is celebrated as one of the finest examples of Elizabethan architecture, set in the grounds of a Grade 1 listed parkland. The house is surrounded by herb gardens, mixed borders and orchards.
