Groups

The main activity of our u3a takes place within the various Groups and each Group is headed by a Group Leader.

• All of these Groups are open to u3a Full Members.

If necessary, contact the Group Leader to check details of next meeting etc. Please do NOT contact the Senior Citizens Hall directly expecting them to know the details - they don't.

Here's a brief guide to navigating your way around the site to find the information you need:

Step 1: Scan the list of groups to find a topic or activity you're interested in. Note the day of the week, and in the month, in which the group meets e.g. 4th Tuesday in month. Some groups may have a "Dates for your Diary" section where you can see what's coming up.

Step 2: check a calendar for that date

Step 3: click on the link to the group (in blue) to read any further information on that group's page, including the contact details for the Group Leader.

Step 4: if necessary, contact the Group Leader to check that the meeting is on.

Step 5: turn up on the day, remembering to take your Marple u3a membership card ... and enjoy!  

If you're new to a group it is always advisable to contact the group leader (details provided on group pages) rather than just turn up for the first time, in case there's been a change of venue, time or cancellation for any reason. Please do not turn up for a group meeting if you're not sure of the time, day etc.

Neighbouring u3as

We are a member of the Pennine Link which is a group of u3as (Marple Bridge and Mellor, New Mills and Romiley) who have agreed that members can attend each others groups without being a member of that u3a.  We also have an arrangement with High Lane to join some of their groups.

You would still need to pay the relevant group session fees and any trip costs, but you should only need to prove you are a current member of Marple u3a by showing your membership card.
